COVID-19 Update
Government of Canada actions on COVID-19
April 9, 2020
Good Evening,
Ahead of the long weekend, we wanted to keep you apprised of the latest federal COVID-19 response developments.
While the government had no major policy announcements today, the House of Commons announced this afternoon that they would be recalling a small number of MPs and Senators for a special sitting this weekend, Saturday, April 11, at 12:15 pm ET.
It is believed that Parliament will introduce and pass the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS) legislation, and make some adjustments to the standing orders. It has been reported that the federal party leaders have come to an agreement on the CEWS and other procedural matters related to the ongoing operation of the House of Commons.
When the CEWS legislation is tabled, we will send you a summary and any relevant news.
If you have any questions regarding the CEWS or other Federal government relief matters, please reach out to Ben Parsons (613) 323-5226 (bparsons@counselpa.com) or Bridget Howe (613) 797-8058 (bhowe@counselpa.com).
