FOPL Sponsored Sessions

Our sessions are focused on communicating the research we have done in the past year at FOPL as well as our partnership work on Libraries 2025 strategies.

1. FOCUS: Libraries 2025

Wednesday, Jan 27 2:15 – 3:45 pm
Roll up your sleeves and bring your ideas to your peers. It is time to table the strategies arising from the 2015 symposium at the Royal York and develop and prioritize collaborative projects to put into action in order to move public libraries forward towards a vision of 2025. This is an opportunity for you to discuss the strategic initiatives with your colleagues, hear thoughts from the planning committee, and tell committee members what your ideas and dreams for the future are.

Learning Outcomes
Update public libraries on the results of Libraries 2025 and review next steps.

2. 2015 Public Opinion about Public Libraries in Ontario

Speaker: Carol French, VP Market Probe Canada
Thursday, Jan 28 | 10:30 am – 11:10 am
The Federation of Ontario Public Libraries commissioned a public opinion poll of Ontarians in 2015. Come hear the results, conclusions and recommendations. There were two province wide polls which were statistically valid both through a computer assisted telephone interviewing panel as well as an online poll using panels. These polls updated and analyzed new trends and continued the results of the polls conducted in 2000, 2006, and 2010.
Learning Outcomes
Understand the role and impact of public opinion on Ontario’s public libraries.
