As part of our goal to provide you with helpful information throughout these difficult times, we’re sharing the results of our most recent survey on COVID-19 (the coronavirus), conducted in partnership with the Association for Canadian Studies (ACS) and published in The Canadian Press.
Our May 26, 2020 edition also reveals that…

  • Canadians are equally split on whether governments are telling the whole truth about COVID-19 (50%) or deliberately withholding information (50%).
  • 86% of Canadians are concerned about a second wave of COVID-19 in the fall.
  • 34% of Canadians think their provincial government should slow down the pace at which it is relaxing social distancing/self-isolation measures, up 7% from last week.

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the tourism industry has been effectively shut down, resulting in a deep and direct hit to airlines, hotels, tour operators, restaurants, and many other tourism-related businesses.

We recently conducted a survey focused on travel and tourism among over 1,500 Canadians to understand:

  • How their 2020 travel plans were impacted by COVID-19;
  • Whether they are inclined to stay closer to home when travelling given COVID-19;
  • How comfortable they are with different modes of transportation;
  • The types of accommodation that will be included in potential travellers’ competitive sets.
