Dear CFLA (via FOPL membership),

In light of the current political climate, I believe it would be an excellent opportunity to highlight and remind members of the CFLA-FCAB Truth and Reconciliation Report and Recommendations. I would like to draw attention to the Committee’s Mandate “…to promote initiatives in all types of libraries to advance reconciliation by supporting the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action and to promote collaboration in these issues across the Canadian library communities”.

The Six Nations Public Library is the oldest and largest First Nation Public Library. We are located on Six Nations of the Grand River. Our patron base is well versed in the colonial history of ‘Canada’. However, my background working in non-Indigenous libraries tells me that there may be some libraries struggling right now. This is a key document that might provide some direction, as well as support, to the library community.
