Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage 2016-2017:
Call for new funding applications for Internships!

The Canadian Council of Archives (CCA) on behalf of the Canadian Library Association and in partnership with the Department of Canadian Heritage is pleased to announce additional funding for the YCW at Building Careers in Heritage program (YCWBCH). This program offers new graduates heritage-centred internships. It will give young Canadians, from coast, to coast to coast, the opportunity to acquire and enhance skills that will give them an advantage when they enter the job market, while at the same time allowing them to earn money.

This new funding will allow the Canadian Council of Archives to fund 8 new internship positions in Libraries operating in English only.

Applications will be accepted until Friday July 22nd, 2016.

Priority will be given to:

* Employers with a mandate related to cultural heritage (including libraries);
* Aboriginal employers and heritage;
* Those hiring young Aboriginal graduates;
* Canadian history and/or the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017.

The duration of these new internships is a minimum of 4 months to maximum of 6 months, and end at the latest on March 31, 2017.

How much funding is available?
• Partial subsidies for employment costs up to $10,000 per internship
• YCWBCH normally contributes between 25 and 50 percent of employment costs (wages, benefits and other eligible expenditures) and may, as warranted, contribute up to 75 percent of employment costs.
