Zoom link for the session will be provided in the week prior to those who have registered. For non-members and Associate members, registration is $45 per person and will be invoiced separately. Across Ontario, changes to municipal decision-making, provincial intervention, and the expansion of Strong Mayor powers are reshaping the landscape of local governance. What do these shifts mean for public libraries, their boards, and their ability to remain responsive to the communities they serve?
Join Bill Irwin, MPA, PhD, Professor Emeritus and Ward 2 Municipal Counsellor, North Middlesex for a timely discussion examining the erosion of local governance in Ontario and the potential implications for public libraries. The session will explore the changing relationship between provincial and municipal governments, the importance of strong and independent library governance, and what library leaders should be watching as Ontario’s political and municipal landscape continues to evolve.
