Save The Dates: FOPL August Free Webinar Series

FOPL members are receiving a lot of information from FOPL this summer.  It’s the culmination of our major research thrusts and it can be, frankly, a little overwhelming.  You have received the results of the Market Probe Canada full scale opinion poll of Ontarians and their attitudes towards our public libraries as well as the most recent analysis and rankings of statistics and measurements of Ontario’s Public Libraries from 2001-2013 based on your submission to the Ministry.  Copies are also available on the FOPL.ca website to members.
So we’re here to support you.  It is one thing to have the data we need to build strategies and direction.  It’s quite another to internalize and interpret these data.
We are also breaking these reports up a bit by sending you weekly chapters from these reports to provide a week-by-week reading series to help you digest these data in your library’s context.
To help you even more, we are building a summer webinar series (with more in the autumn, based on demand).  So, please feel free to put these dates in your calendar and share this information with your staff and boards.
August 14th Noon-1 pm
Overview of FOPL’s Ontario Public Library Statistics and Measurements Report
 Speakers:
 Robert Molyneux, MSLS, PhD
Stephen Abram, MLS, executive director FOPL
August 17th Noon-1 pm

 Speaker:
Carol French, Senior Vice President, Research & Client Services
 Market Probe Canada

August 28th Noon-1 pm
Strategic Use and Insights from FOPL’s Ontario Public Library Statistics, Polls, and Measurements
 Speakers:
 Robert Molyneux, MSLS, PhD
Stephen Abram, MLS, executive director FOPL
All of these webinars will be recorded with the slides and provided on the FOPL members-only website within days of the event.
Registration is preferred.  It is free to members.  As many staff as you like from your library (including board members) are welcome to attend.  Some libraries use this as an opportunity for professional development and do it over lunch.  Just send an e-mail to Monica Mixemong at FOPL to get on the list (monica@fopl.ca) and you’ll get the sign-in information.
We will send out more reminders of these events as they get closer.
Our goal at FOPL is to maximize your investment in FOPL through collaborative efforts like these which get the research and data we need to succeed.  None of these reports would have been affordable by most Ontario libraries and we want to ensure that you’re prepared to use them to advantage.
Cheers,
Stephen
