I am writing to announce that nominations are open for the 2016 Premier’s Awards for Excellence in the Arts.
In Ontario, there are endless ways to live with culture, thanks to you – our artists, producers, innovators, and performers. Your work breathes life into communities, helps drive innovation and strengthens Ontario’s culture sector, generating almost $22 billion annually for the economy.
These awards are an important way in which we can recognize artists and arts organizations for their artistic achievements that entertain, educate, engage – and inspire. Please help us to celebrate your peers, colleagues and mentors for their invaluable contributions.
The 2015 laureates were announced at an awards ceremony at the Royal Ontario Museum on October 20 in Toronto.
Nominating is easy. Simply submit a package that includes a nomination form, a testimonial letter, a description of your nominee and a selection of media clippings about them by the December 1, 2015 deadline. Details and nomination forms are on the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) website. The OAC administers the awards selection process on behalf of the Ontario government.
There are two categories: an artist award of $35,000 and an arts organization award of $50,000. Artists and arts organizations engaged in any professional arts practice in Ontario whose artistic work or service spans a minimum of 10 years are eligible.

Je vous annonce l’ouverture des candidatures à l’édition 2016 des Prix de la première ministre pour l’excellence artistique.
Grâce à vous – nos artistes, producteurs, innovateurs, et interprètes, les activités culturelles ne manquent pas en Ontario. Votre travail insuffle de la vie dans nos collectivités, stimule l’innovation et renforce le secteur de la culture de l’Ontario en générant environ 22 milliards de dollars par an dans l’économie.
Ces prix revêtent une importance toute particulière, car ils nous permettent de récompenser les artistes et les organismes artistiques qui, par leurs réalisations, divertissent, sensibilisent, intéressent et inspirent. Aidez-nous à récompenser vos pairs, vos collègues et vos mentors pour leurs précieuses contributions.
Les noms des lauréats 2015 ont été annoncés à l’occasion d’une cérémonie de remise de prix qui s’est tenue au Musée royal de l’Ontario le 20 octobre dernier à Toronto.
Pour proposer une candidature, rien de plus simple. Il vous suffit de soumettre un formulaire de candidature, une lettre de témoignage, une description de votre candidat et une sélection de coupures de presse à son sujet avant la date limite du 1er décembre 2015. Les détails du programme et les formulaires de candidature sont disponibles sur le site Web du Conseil des arts de l’Ontario (CAO). Le CAO gère le processus de sélection des finalistes au nom du gouvernement de l’Ontario.
Il existe deux catégories de prix : un prix Artiste d’une valeur de 35 000 $ et un prix Organisme artistique d’une valeur de 50 000 $. Sont admissibles les artistes et les organismes artistiques œuvrant à titre professionnel dans le domaine des arts en Ontario dont le travail, le service ou la production artistique s’étale sur un minimum de 10 ans.
