FOPL is interested in presenting the public library’s role as a key service for e-government. As you know, governments have increasingly gone digital for government forms and public libraries are critical community service points for providing access to forms from municipal, provincial, federal and foreign governments. We have the professional staff, technology, peripherals, web access and more. Public libraries receive funding from many levels of government and we deliver value for this investment despite funding pressures.

Here is the link to the online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C3YV9BM

Please don’t invest more than 10-15 minutes in filling out this survey.

Ultimately we need a little data to help us communicate this important role that public libraries play and the benefits that all levels of government are receiving from our sector in Ontario. FOPL will turn this data into talking points for our advocacy efforts in 2013-14.  (Interestingly, in the U.S., President Obama announced funding at the ALA Chicago Conference in June 2013 a major training program through IMLS to help public libraries support the many online forms for their new health insurance programs.)

We recognize that you may not be the right person in your library to fill out this survey. We’d appreciate it if you would forward this on to your front line reference and service staff – as many as you see fit.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to sharing the results this autumn.

Cheers,
Stephen Abram
