Four Niagara libraries have eliminated overdue fines on children’s materials with the hope of encouraging more youngsters to access services.

The Fort Erie, Lincoln, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Pelham Public Libraries’ boards of directors implemented the new policy in January to remove any barriers to accessing information for the libraries’ youngest patrons and their parents, explained Craig Shufelt, the chair of the Libraries in Niagara co-operative and chief executive officer of the Fort Erie Public Library.
