VIA ONN: Amendments to the Employment Standards Act
“Non-unionized workers who have had their hours reduced or eliminated due to COVID-19 and have been placed on a temporary leave (Infectious Disease Emergency Leave) will have their jobs preserved while remaining eligible for federal emergency income support programs. The amendment will apply retroactively to March 1 and will expire six weeks after the province’s declared state of emergency ends. The amendment does not include unionized workers who are covered by collective agreements. Read the news release.”
