Call for Participation: Cataloguing Code of Ethics Review Working Group

The CFLA-FCAB Cataloguing and Metadata Standards Committee is calling for participation in the CFLA-FCAB Cataloguing Code of Ethics Review Working Group.
As part of a joint project with ALA Core and CILIP MDG, the CFLA-FCAB Cataloguing and Metadata Standards Committee (CMSC) co-sponsored the development of the Cataloguing Code of Ethics (https://sites.google.com/view/cataloging-ethics/home). The final version of the code was made public in January 2021.
The Cataloguing Code of Ethics Review Working Group is being formed to review the code of ethics and submit a report to the CMSC. CMSC’s decision to recommend endorsement of the code by the Board of Directors will be informed by the findings included in the report. Part of the review would include a national consultation to elicit feedback from the Canadian cataloging and metadata community. The Working Group is expected to launch in October 2022 with a goal of issuing its report by December 2023.

Le Comité sur les normes relatives au catalogage et aux métadonnées (CNCM) du FCAB-CFLA lance un appel à participation au Groupe de travail sur l’examination du Code d’éthique de catalogage.
Dans le cadre d’un projet conjoint avec ALA Core et CILIP MDG, le Comité sur les normes relatives au catalogage et aux métadonnées a coparrainé l’élaboration du Code d’éthique de catalogage. Le Groupe de travail sur l’examination du Code d’éthique de catalogage est en train d’être formé pour examiner le code et soumettre un rapport au CNCM. Les conclusions du rapport permettront au CNCM de formuler une recommandation au Conseil d’administration qui aura la responsabilité finale d’approuver ou non le code. Une partie de l’exercice comprendrait une consultation nationale pour obtenir des commentaires de la communauté canadienne du catalogage et des métadonnées. Le groupe de travail devrait être lancé en octobre 2022 dans le but de publier son rapport d’ici décembre 2023.
