CFLA/FCAB’s Intellectual Freedom Committee is searching for TWO new members.  We welcome nominations from CFLA/FCAB member associations and self-nominations from members of CFLA/FCAB member associations. Once appointed to the Committee, the responsibility of members is to the Committee, not to the nominating body.

The Committee strives to include a wide variety of backgrounds and interests, uniting individuals who value the principles of intellectual freedom and their application in the present context.  The Committee is particularly interested in nominations from individuals from school libraries, but will also consider applicants from public, government, special, and academic libraries.

Appointments will be made for a term of 3 years, renewable once, with terms beginning in both October and April.

The Committee will normally meet monthly between September and June, with additional meetings scheduled as required.  For 2024/2025 the meetings will occur on the fourth Thursday of the month at 9:00 am PT, 10:00 am MT, 11:00 am CT, 12:00 pm ET, 1:00 pm AT, 2:00 pm NFLDT.

More information about the work of the Committee can be found at https://cfla-fcab.ca/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/2022-06-20-Intellectual-Freedom-TOR-FINAL-CFLA-.docx.pdf

Interested individuals should send both a resume and statement of interest (500 words or less) to the current membership working group lead, Kelly Lauzon, at kelly.lauzon@airdriepubliclibrary.ca.  Please contact Kelly for more information.
