“After seven years as Chief Librarian and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kingston Frontenac Public Library (KFPL), Patricia Enright is retiring.
Enright has spent the last 31 years working in public libraries throughout Ontario, and her career with KFPL spanned 15 of those years. Enright joined the KFPL team, first as the Manager of Children’s/Teen’s and Rural Services, a role she filled locally for seven years. She was appointed as Chief Librarian and CEO of KFPL in 2012.
“During her time leading KFPL, Ms. Enright has been instrumental in planning and executing significant changes in the service model including a focus on customer service, enhanced programming and outreach to the community and has overseen an unprecedented amount of facility renewal,” KPFL said in a press release on Friday, Jul. 11, 2019.
Indeed, Enright’s commitment to the value of community libraries was reflected in the many projects that occurred at KPFL branches during her time as Chief Librarian and CEO. The renovation of the Central Branch location, the building of the brand new Rideau Heights Branch, the new Mountain Grove and Parham Branches, and the refurbishment of many of KPFL rural branches all took place under Enright’s command.
Additionally, Enright has served on the KEYS and Kingston Literacy and Skills Board, was a member of the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston, and served as the liaison to the Friends of the Library, the volunteer-led charitable organization that raises funds to enhance services at KFPL.
“Throughout her time at KFPL, Ms. Enright reflected an unwavering commitment to advancing the mission, vision and values of the KFPL for the benefit of our many and diverse communities throughout Kingston and the County of Frontenac,” the KFPL Board said in the release.
“The KFPL Board of Directors thanks Ms. Enright for her exceptional service, and wishes her well as she embarks upon her well-earned retirement.”
Enright will officially retire from her positions on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019. At that time, Lester Webb, the current KFPL Director of Outreach and Technology, will assume the role of Interim Chief Librarian and CEO. Webb has been with KFPL for 28 years. “The Board is grateful to have his expertise and experience while a CEO search is underway,” The KFPL Board said.”
