To the Unity Family,
We hope that everyone is keeping safe, and finding ways to stay positive and connected during these unprecedented times. With youth and community at the forefront of our minds, we’ve been working hard to find ways to continue to engage and support the well being and resilience of young people through Hip Hop art forms–even with quarantine and social distancing measures in place across the country. With uncertainty all around us, it’s more important than ever for young people to access outlets for stress and anxiety, and find positive ways to express themselves.
Our team is very proud and excited to have launched a 10-week series of free online-workshops that teach Hip Hop art forms (Spoken Word, Emceeing, DJing, Street Dance, Breaking, and Beatboxing), all through the lens of mental wellness and resilience. We’re partnering with school boards and community groups to promote these workshops to young people who need them most, and wanted to reach out to you, our Unity Family, to get your support in sharing these resources far and wide as well. If you have friends, family members, or young people in your lives who you think could benefit from connecting with peers and mentors, all while learning fun and accessible ways to create and express, please don’t hesitate to send them our way. We’re active as ever, and looking forward to connecting with everyone online!
We’ll continue to stay in touch as things develop. We’re exploring collaborations and partnerships all the time to continually adapt to the changing circumstances around us. In the meantime we’re wishing everyone serenity–please stay safe!
Our best to everyone,
Rebecca and the Unity Team
