How Public Libraries Can Welcome Syrian Refugees

http://www.accessola.org/web/OLA/OPLA/Help_Syrian_Refugees.aspx

A complex network of support organizations are working hard to provide services to Syrian refugees arriving in Canada.  OPLA Council found ourselves asking how we could get involved and what public libraries can do.  Opportunities to help will vary depending on your community and the settlement services already available.  Please see the PDF about ways your library might be able to help.

Part of this document includes special, limited-time offers that have been negotiated with vendors by OPLA Council and OLA staff.  Find out more about ways you can save money on:

  • Arabic/English materials from Library Services Centre; Chapters Indigo and YouAreSpecial.com
  • “Welcome” posters and window clings in 27 world languages

Let’s show our newest Canadians how much libraries care, and that libraries are for everyone!
