Here’s an idea:

Many of the food banks in my neighbourhood are closed because they depend on seniors as volunteers or have food shortages.

We know that many people and families are suffering food insecurity during this emergency.

Reference librarians – Let’s call all the food banks in our local communities, find out if they’re open or closed and their hours, get their phone numbers, social media and website addresses, and communicate this info through appropriate channels (PL digital presences, library partners, social service agencies, etc.).  Find out if your local social service agencies have a resource pages on this.

Indeed, TPL found that they were tons of staff volunteers when they put out a call for food bank volunteers!

Lastly, at a minimum, every public library should be encouraging food bank donations. Some are doing contactless pick-ups with volunteers and others are providing contactless dorp-offs.
