We are excited to announce the selected title for this year’s First Nation Communities READ competition.

Bearskin Diary by Carol Daniels (Nightwood Editions 2015)

Carol is also the recipient of the Aboriginal Literature Award, a $5000 prize, sponsored by the Periodical Marketers of Canada.

The jury, which consisted of First Nation Public librarians, had the onerous task of reading the over 50 books nominated for consideration this year in the Young Adult/Adult category.

After deciding on a shortlist of books, it was their absolute pleasure to name the selected title.

The shortlist consisted of the following books:

Bearskin Diary by Carol Daniels

Missing Nimama by Melanie Florence (Clockwise Press 2015)

They Called Me Number One by Bev Sellers (Talonbooks 2013)

Price Paid by Bev Sellers (Talonbooks 2016)
